GRAND TERRACE>> Last month, residents of the Grand Terrace Senior Center hosted a Spring Cleaning Work Day event.

The community was invited to attend and nearly a month later, those at the senior center couldn’t be happier with the results.

The Grand Terrace Senior center needed to have the blinds and window sills dusted, and the windows washed. Invites were sent out to local high school clubs such as Key Club, The Inner Act Club, theLeos Club and more.

Though the weather promised rain, Flo Elliot, Volunteer Director of Senior Services, called the event a success. “We had ten adults and four students show up to clean. We cleaned all of the chairs, the tables, and we moved the furniture and washed the chair rails. We even dusted everything on the walls and cleaned all of the baseboards.

Volunteers were treated to pizza and girl scout cookies, which were donated by Amputee Connections.

More work is yet to be done as volunteers were able to get to the doors and the windows. “I was pleased. The people who were there worked very hard.”

Cleaning started at 8:00 a.m. and finished by 1:00 p.m. “I was very happy with the results,” said Flo.
