Grand Terrace Asks Residents to Take Survey

GRAND TERRACE>> The City of Grand Terrace is offering free I “heart” Grand Terrace license plates; all you have to do is fill out a survey. The reason for the survey is that The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires a community to have an approved hazard mitigation plan in order to be eligible to apply and receive FEMA hazard funding. According to the City of Grand Terrace Survey, receiving this funding is crucial to implanting identified hazard and mitigation projects and programs. The City of Grand Terrace has received a grant from San Bernardino County FY 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant to prepare for a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. According to the City of Grand Terrace Survey, the purpose of mitigation planning is to identify risk and future losses from when a disaster occurs in order to break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated disaster. As a result of the EMPG, the city of Grand Terrace has created a survey to get feedback from their residents, and those that travel to Grand Terrace frequently. According to the website that hosts the survey, the survey is designed to obtain input about areas in Grand Terrace that may be vulnerable to various types of national disasters. The information provided by survey-takers will hopefully identify and coordinate projects from future hazard events. The survey is estimated to take 12 to 15 minutes and is completely anonymous; the information will also be kept confidential. The final results of the survey will be included within the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and posted on the City of Grand Terrace web page located at www.grandterrace-ca.gov. As a thank you gift from the City of Grand Terrace participants in the survey will be given an I “heart” Grand Terrace license plates, which can be picked up at City Hall 22795 Barton Rd, Grand Terrace.
