The students at Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) in Redlands will have a "new" bench to look forward to in the fall, thanks to Girl Scout Troop 1040. The Cadettes painted the bench, which was donated by Allan Bacon of TE Connectivity. The project was the culmination of their Amaze Journey, which focused on the twists and turns of relationships. Throughout the 2016-17 school year, the scouts discussed friendships, cliques, bullying, and self-improvement. At the end of the Journey, the scouts needed to complete a Take Action project that reflected what they learned during their journey. The scouts decided to paint the bench to encourage students of all ages to sit and form friendships. They painted it at the end of the school year. The primer and paint was generously donated by Harry Coe, SHA board member and parent. The bench was painted in the school colors, red and blue, with the school logo, a heart with a cross inside. After it was painted, it was blessed with holy water by Father Hau, a priest at Holy Name of Jesus and presented to the entire school on the second to last day of school by the scouts. It is the hope of Troop 1040 that whoever sits at the bench feels welcomed and loved!
