The city of Grand Terrace is a co-permittee with the County of San Bernardino under a storm water discharge permit, issued by the State of California through the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board.
To fulfill state permit requirements, starting Monday, March 30, the city of Grand Terrace will be conducting National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspections of commercial, industrial and restaurants within the city.
Water pollution makes surface water unsafe for drinking, fishing, swimming and other activities. As authorized by the State Clean Water Act, the NPDES permit program controls water pollution by regulating water discharge sources to avoid pollutants into local watersheds.
The city will be conducting NPDES inspections starting from the month of April. Inspection fees will be assessed based on the nature and size of the facility.
