This past Thursday evening November 30, 2017 between the hours of 4 to 9 p.m. at Azure Hills Church parking lot; the community came together to witness the celebration of the lighting of the Christmas tree located at the corner of Barton Road and Palm Avenue. Again this year, there were many local businesses and youth organizations that had set up booths in the parking lot to both entertain and sell Christmas gifts to the local residents who had come out to enjoy the festivities. This year a special booth was created to allow children to ice skate, and other booths were available to get hot chocolate and other beverages and munchies. The highlight of the evening, of course, was the lighting of the Christmas tree, with Grand Terrace Mayor Darcy McNaboe overseeing the proceedings and wishing everyone joy and happiness during the holiday season. There was an excellent turnout to this year’s event, and everyone in attendance gave praise to all of the vendors and especially to the city workers who made this now traditional holiday highlight a reality. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
