After a hard-working season, the Grand Terrace Titans Junior Micro Team heads to the Super Bowl this Sunday, Nov. 16.
This past Saturday, Nov. 8, semi-finals took place. Number seven seed at the time, the Grand Terrace Titans defeated the number one seed Riverside Rams, beating them by 13 points with a final score of 32 to 19 and officially advancing to the Inland Empire Jr. All American Youth Football Super Bowl.
With the GT Youth Football program only being three years old, this will be the second time the GT Titans Jr. Micro Team has gone to the Super Bowl. Last year, they came very close to being the champions, only losing by two points.
“That hurt really bad,” President and Founder of the GT Youth and Cheer Program Hayward Robinson said. “This just gives us more motivation to go in and take home the trophy on Sunday.”
Coach Kenneth Appleton and his GT Titans are now ranked at number five. On Sunday in the Super Bowl they will play against the number three seed, the Redlands Terriers.
Although the GT Titans will be going into the game as the underdogs, Robinson explains that these young talented athletes shouldn’t be worried.
“We’re going into this with a positive attitude…this is our chance for redemption from last year,” he mentioned. “We’re going to do great…we need to bring our city a championship.”
