The 15th annual Blue Mountain Walk was held Sunday, March 6, 2022. Over two hundred hikers kicked off with the City of Grand Terrace Mayor Darcy McNaboe at 8:00AM sharp. Recent rain meant the trails were moist with no dust. The view of the valley and snow-covered mountains was lovely to see. The first two hundred hikers received a gold award with a ribbon. I interviewed seven hikers for my annual video event, including a man riding his mountain bike, members of the Cheer Factory based here in Grand Terrace, as well as Ana Martin and Haide Aguirre—two members of the Sheriff’s Academy.  All were equally thrilled by the hike and the view. I was disappointed not to be one of the first to arrive at the top and get an award. I realized how thin the mountain air is at that height. Had I known, I would have brought my oxygen bottle. I’ve been affected by an incurable hereditary malady called Dob. Lord willing, I’ll see you at the top in 2023. For more local news and information click here.
