Photo Description:

Riverside Highland Water Company water reduction for June of this year was 29 percent. While this is quite impressive, and we thank our customers for their conservation, the State of California’s required reduction for the Company is 36 percent. While most folks appear to be doing their part, there are still areas for improvement. One comment that we have noticed in talking with some of our customers is the misconception that because we have a better water situation than most of the State and because we are private water company that the restrictions do not apply to our customers. This is absolutely wrong. At this time we are required by law to restrict our water production by the amount the State has imposed. Also, if we do not achieve the State mandated percentage, the State could fine our company as much as $10,000 per day. We at Riverside Highland Water Company do not receive any tax or public money. All of our revenue comes directly from our shareholders and customers. If the State were to fine us, the fines would have to be absorbed by our ratepayers. Because of the drought and the threat of fines, we have been trying to get information on restrictions to our customers. In addition to articles in local newspapers, we sent out over 4,000 mailers with the restrictions including the 3-day-per-week watering schedule. We have been contacting the larger water users directly and have been hanging tags at houses and businesses that are not in compliance. Please, if you are not sure of the restrictions or aware of the 3-day-per-week watering schedule, either call us at 909-825-4128 or go on our website at rhwco.com. It is imperative that we come together as a community to reduce our water use at this time.
