On Monday, Oct. 19, the City of Grand Terrace Child Care took its tiny tot and pre-school kids, a total of 79 youngsters, to the local pumpkin patch on Waterman and Hospitality.
From 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., the pumpkin patch closed down to the general public for the kids to roam around freely with their parents, volunteers and peers.
“It was amazing that they opened up just for them,” said Director Linda Phillips. “To not mix the kids with the general public, and have free reign.”
At the pumpkin patch, they enjoyed visiting with the animals in the petting zoo, even though most animals were asleep! Every child chose their own pumpkin, ensuring it was the perfect one for them.
Not only was the trip fun for the kids, it was a chance for them to bond with their peers, socialize and grow.
Phillips was told by one child, “it was the best day of my life!”
This was the first time the event was arranged, and the facility looks forward to holding another pumpkin patch trip in 2016.
