The City of Grand Terrace unveiled its last surprise of the Barton Road interchange project, which places the project as a contender for state recognition.

On Wednesday July 22, 2020, the City unveiled its new entry way sign. The sign was incorporated into the Barton Rd. Interchange Project. Mayor McNaboe, Mayor Pro Tem. Wilson and Councilman Allen were on hand for the unveiling.    The final surprise of the Barton Rd. Interchange project has been unveiled. According to the City of Grand Terrace, the interchange project is a contender for state recognition as a model infrastructure project. If you pass the northbound on-ramp, check it out on your return and let the city what you think.   In addition, to the interchange project, the city has been approved for a Safety  Improvement Program on Mt. Vernon. According to the City, the project should be completed within 60 days (September 15, 2020).   In November 2016, the City of Grand Terrace was awarded the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Grant from Caltrans. The HSIP Grant will fund safety improvements at major intersections on Mt. Vernon Avenue. The total value of the grant is $435,700. Project Description: Project area includes the Mt. Vernon Avenue corridor from Canal Street/Grand Terrace Road to Pico Street with an emphasis on the following intersections: • Mt. Vernon Avenue and Canal Street/Grand Terrace Road • Mt. Vernon Avenue and Barton Road • Mt. Vernon Avenue and De Berry Street • Mt. Vernon Avenue and Van Buren Street • Mt. Vernon Avenue and Pico Street The proposed improvements include the installation of radar speed feedback signage along the stretch of Mt. Vernon Avenue between Canal Street/Grand Terrace Road and Pico Street, street and pedestrian crossing pavement marking improvements at Grand Terrace Road, De Berry Street, and Pico Street, and enhanced street lighting along selected segments of Mt.
