Local comedian Adrian Lopez hosted a Night of 1003 Comics “Electric Boogaloo” at JB’s Lighthouse in Grand Terrace last Thursday night, Nov. 20. Every Thursday night since early September, Adrian Lopez has invited multiple famous comedians as well as community members to share a night full of laughter. Lopez hosts the event, starting at 9:30 p.m., running for about two hours. About five to seven comedians, including Lopez himself, get to perform a quick ten to fifteen minute skit. Comedians like Eddie Jarvis, Chris Simpson, and Zhivago Blea came to Grand Terrace to put on a show for everyone. “Most of the comedians are my good friends and I have known them for a long time… they come out and we try to put on a good show for the community,” he said. After all the comedians got their time on stage, Lopez then made it open mic – anyone from the crowd was welcome to take the stage to perform their own little skit or even to share a few words with the audience. Thursday nights don’t just come with fun and laughs for Lopez, he also runs a food drive with these events. “I figured, since we’re putting on a show we might as well take advantage of it and try to help those in need throughout the community,” Lopez shared. All attendees are encouraged to bring canned and dried food to support the food drive. According to Lopez, they have collected over forty-five pounds worth of food since they started. After they collect the canned food donated from the night, it's delivered to the San Bernardino County Donation Center. Every Thursday, Lopez tries to switch up the style and change the theme for the night. For example, Thursday night’s theme was “Electric Boogaloo.” He added, “I try to change it up and keep it interesting for the audience.”
