The upcoming General Election will hold its last voting date on November 8, 2022. For the city of Grand Terrace, there are two candidates running for City Council: Doug A. Wilson and write-in candidate Shad Boal.
Here is a look at their candidate statements:
Shad Boal
Parent, Small Business Owner, County Building Inspector
My name is Shad Boal, and I am a 21-year resident of the great city of Grand Terrace. I have had the opportunity to raise 4 kids in Grand Terrace who have attended Terrace View Elementary, Terrance Hills Middle School, and Grand Terrace High School. The experience of raising kids in a small, safe, family-friendly community has been my American Dream. I feel blessed to call myself a resident of Grand Terrace.
I enjoy volunteering throughout the community and participating as chair for the Veterans Wall of Freedom, a cause I am honored to support in honor of our brave servicemen and women that defend our freedom. Additionally, I am a committee member of the Grand Terrace Foundation.
I do not have any political experience which I consider one of my strongest assets. I was raised in a family-owned business which allowed me early on to learn the importance of budgeting, managing overhead costs, and the negative impact elected officials and policies can have on our small business and families.
I have worked as a Building Inspector for both San Bernardino County and Riverside County and am currently employed as a building inspector for Riverside County in addition to running an electrical contracting business during my off hours. Serving in these roles has allowed me to interact with citizens daily where I hear their concerns and frustration about the negative impacts elected officials and policies have on their lives.
Over the years I have watched the city drift from a community-driven course to a path that has been set by elected officials that benefits those elected more than its citizens. I can no longer sit idly by and watch elected officials steer the city away from all that makes it great, its citizens and their love for Grand Terrance and what their desire is for the future of Grand Terrance.
We have many opportunities for challenge and the top on my list are putting the citizens back in the driver’s seat, addressing our homelessness, increasing transparency in all city activities, and ensuring our streets are safe for the families of Grand Terrace.
I am seeking your support to allow me to hear your voice and act on your concerns, wants, and needs. I look forward to representing and working for you if you allow me the honor to do so.
