GRAND TERRACE>> On Friday, Sept. 16 Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown, of the 47th District, visited the Grand Terrace Senior Center to speak with seniors at the center.
While visiting with each of the seniors, Brown provided lunch for 30 people and refreshments at the center.
George Wood, a server at the Grand Terrace Senior Center, served the lunches to the seniors during Brown's visit. Wood said he was happy to hear that one of the issues she said she is working on is help for caregivers.
Brown is running for re-election of her current position as assemblymember. During her visit to the senior center, Brown took pictures with the seniors and her campaign signs.
Solomon Dobynes, Vice President of the senior center, said the people at the center feel relieved to have someone in office who is looking out for the seniors.
"She was willing to answer all questions and made us feel that she is one of us," Dobynes said.
Jane Haines, President of the center, said she spoke with Brown about the presidential candidates running for office and discussed the future of Social Security. Haines said Brown also discussed working toward the cost of living adjustments for people who receive Supplemental Security Income and State Supplementary Payments.
"She admitted to being a senior herself so is very concerned about issues that involve seniors," Haines said.
