San Bernardino's business community will take center stage this month as the City prepares for the San Bernardino Business Summit on October 22, 2026, an event aimed at supporting entrepreneurs, strengthening local businesses and encouraging continued economic growth.

The summit comes as San Bernardino continues efforts to attract investment while providing existing businesses with resources to grow and remain competitive. The City's Economic Development Department currently lists the Business Summit among its featured October programs, alongside workshops covering business financing, technology, trademarks, online sales and other topics important to entrepreneurs.

For small-business owners, events such as the Business Summit can provide something particularly valuable: an opportunity to make connections.

Local entrepreneurs often face similar challenges, from finding financing and qualified employees to marketing their businesses and navigating changing technology. Bringing business owners, professionals and community leaders together can create opportunities to exchange ideas, learn about available resources and develop relationships that continue after the event ends.

The summit also highlights the important role locally owned businesses play in San Bernardino.

Every new restaurant, retail shop, professional office or service business has the potential to create jobs, occupy commercial space and generate economic activity. Successful businesses can also encourage additional investment as commercial corridors become more active.

San Bernardino has been placing increased attention on economic development opportunities throughout the city. The City's current business resources include assistance for entrepreneurs as well as access through the San Bernardino Public Library to Data Axle, a research database containing information on millions of businesses and consumers that can be useful to entrepreneurs, job seekers and marketers.

October's schedule also includes workshops designed to help people prepare for government jobs, strengthen résumés and interview skills, understand business funding, explore succession planning and learn how technology can help businesses grow.

Together, those programs demonstrate that economic development is about more than attracting major companies. It also involves helping residents develop skills and giving local entrepreneurs the tools they need to turn ideas into sustainable businesses.

For San Bernardino, supporting small businesses can have an impact that reaches well beyond an individual storefront. Strong neighborhood businesses provide employment, services and gathering places while helping keep dollars circulating within the local economy.

The San Bernardino Business Summit on October 22 provides another opportunity to bring those pieces together and put the spotlight on the people investing their time, money and ideas in the city's future.

Residents and business owners can find additional information and upcoming programs through the City of San Bernardino's Economic Development Department.
