HIGHGROVE >> The 31st Annual Highgrove Day Pancake Breakfast and Car Show took place on Saturday May 7th at Highgrove Park. The non-profit organization FSA (Family Service Association) sponsored the event as part of their mission to “Building community one family at a time, through compassion, advocacy, and comprehensive model services, fostering self-sufficiency, and sustainable impacts.” All of the proceeds go toward funding more programs in the future. This community event is dedicated to bringing people together through common interests and to build strong communities. The community center usually hosts various forms of events for senior citizens and helps to create a social space for them to meet people and to get involved. Everyone who worked at the community center was volunteering in an effort to give back to the community. “Volunteering in such community events helps me to stay away from negativity and to live a fulfilling life. My secret to live young forever is to be positive, and stay healthy!” said Christina Juarez, a seventy-three year old volunteer. A pancake breakfast was hosted inside of the Community Center just a few steps from the fair. Pancakes filled up tummies and got everyone ready for the day's excitement. Live music serenaded attendees while they enjoyed their pancake breakfasts. Outside at the Highgrove Park, the vendors, food, classic cars, kids fun zone, live music, dance performances, and square dancing lessons kept everyone entertained. Local law enforcement groups came to answer questions and hear complaints in an effort to make the community safer for all. Animal rescue organization, Pet Rescue Thrift Store, was also invited to offer pet adoption services. The classic cars neatly lined up on the side to show off their timeless gorgeousness. “I like to come to the cars show and just look at cars. This is my life long passion and I love how people generously share their knowledge about cars. Events like these are perfect to talk and meet more people.” said Ronnie Romple, a owner of classic cars.
