Grand Terrace High School was the place to be last weekend as they performed, for the very first time in school history, the play "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland." The drama program put on a show to remember in the GTHS Theatre. The first show premiered Thursday night, March 12, at 7 p.m. and performed twice more at the same time Friday and Saturday night. “The kids put in so much work,” Director Kimberly Guadagnoli shared. Rehearsals and preparation began right after Christmas break, according to Guadagnoli. Drama Club President Megan Ramirez, a senior, played the main role of Alice. Her talent stems from her 13-year background of theater performance. As the spotlight hit stage and the packed theater diverted their attention to the front, Alice began the many paths she would take throughout her journey in Wonderland titled “At the bottom of a rabbit hole. In Wonderland.” After five scenes of drama, action and laughter went by, there was a 15-minute intermission that allowed attendees to get up, stretch, use the facilities, and get some refreshments. The Mad Hatter Tea Party took place in Scene Five, prior to the intermission. The tea party consisted of the most sarcastic and comedic characters that made the audience burst with laughter. “We have some extremely talented kids in this play,” Guadagnoli shared. There were five more scenes as they closed the play with Alice’s return home. Not only is the play completely performed by only the talented students at Grand Terrace High School, but everything else including the behind the scenes, the lighting, the designs, the stage decorations and setups, were also courtesy of the students. “They are pretty much in charge of everything and they did a great job,” said Guadagnoli.
