The Public Service Champion Award spotlights those who were called to serve their communities for the promise of a brighter tomorrow. They work tirelessly to increase taxpayer trust and satisfaction. Time for Change Foundation recognizes these individuals for delivering the utmost excellence to the place we all call home. The recipient of this award makes the extraordinary look ordinary by consistently moving forward as a champion for all our voices delivering on their vision of a thriving community. Elected to represent the 20th State Senate District on November 4, 2014, Senator Connie M. Leyva is serving her first term in the California State Senate. The district includes the cities and communities of Bloomington, Chino, Colton, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Montclair, Muscoy, Ontario, Pomona, Rialto and San Bernardino. A lifelong activist standing up for working people and families, Senator Leyva holds a proven record of community serve and action to improve the life of others far pre-dating her current position as a State Senator. Senator Leyva is committed to improving California's schools, environment and communities, as well as creating quality jobs throughout the 20th State Senate District and California. She firmly believes that California families benefit most when we invest in and help strengthen small businesses and other job drivers that create good paying jobs in our local communities. Time for Change is honored to present Senator Leyva with this year's Public Service Champion Award on April 15, 2016 at the 13th Annual Star Studded Awards Gala. A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
