On Tuesday, March 17, around 7:30 p.m., deputies from Grand Terrace responded to the Thai Kitchen on Barton Road in Grand Terrace after receiving a report of an ex-employee, Oscar Ramos, 37 of Colton, causing a disturbance. When deputies arrived, Ramos was inside the kitchen. Ramos reportedly started a fire by turning on the burners to the stove and throwing grease onto the burners. Ramos refused to come out of the burning kitchen and began to throw items at deputies who used force against Ramos and carried him out of the kitchen, which was fully engulfed in flames. Ramos was arrested and transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for burns to his body. Upon his release from the hospital, he will be transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Arson. On Tuesday the owner of the Thai kitchen said they hope to reopen by the end of this week and are just waiting on approval from fire officials.
