On Saturday morning, Sept. 20, the Grand Terrace Woman's Club Book Club donated a large number of books to the Grand Terrace Library. Every year the group donates books and DVDs to the library. Their annual goal is about five-hundred books. However, "this year we have exceeded our goal," member Adele Lara said. The Grand Terrace Women's Book Club donated about seven-hundred books with the help of the Rosalie Orrick estate. Orrick was an active member of the Grand Terrace Woman's Club and the Book Club for many years before she passed this year in July. "Rosalie was passionate about education and women's empowerment. Each year she would donate books about powerful women," Lara mentioned. "She was definitely a reader," Club member Lisa Boon shared. The Grand Terrace Woman's Club are active throughout the community. They are involved in the County Fair, donations to the Option House, scholarships, providing food and gifts to the less fortunate for the holidays, and more. Members heading the book donation include: President Wendy Curran, Edna Best, Lisa Boon, Adele Lara, Barbara Martin, Elida Ortiz, Cecilia Perez, and Ana Lugo.
