The GTHS Titans cruised their way to a 44–30 victory over Bloomington High School (BHS) in the first Sunkist League game for both schools on Friday night, Oct. 11. Behind six touchdowns by Cruz Duke (#21), the Titans overcame an early deficit to avenge last season’s loss to the Bruins. The “Up and Coming” crowd was treated to fireworks by the senior running back Duke and at halftime. The Titans got the much-needed win to gain back confidence to contend for the chance at the league title. Ralph Mohammad (#2) had 99 yards passing with two touchdowns and Duke had 248 yards rushing with four touchdowns, 99 yards receiving with two touchdowns, and the defense with some timely stops led the way. The JV and freshmen Titans were also victorious in their matches against Bloomington; the JV Titans went home with a 36–14 final score and the freshmen Titans came out with a 40–6 final score. The JV Titans will take on the Fontana High School Steelers on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 3:15 p.m. at Fontana High School, with the freshmen Titans hosting the Fontana High School Steelers at 3:15 p.m. at GTHS. The varsity team will travel Friday, Oct. 18, to Fontana High School to take on the Steelers at 7 p.m.
