Animal Show Delights Children

The morning of July 10 brought children to different parts of the world as the Grand Terrace Library hosted a live animal show, featuring animals from different parts of the globe. Presented by the Pacific Animal Productions group, the show aimed to educate children through entertainment, getting them involved by being given trivia about an animal and then being asked questions after to see how well they retained the knowledge. The animals, presented by Megan Miller, were small, but exotic. The first to be presented was a female chinchilla and her two offspring, also female. This was followed by an African pygmy hedgehog, a hissing cockroach from Madagascar, an Australian sugar glider and laughing kookaburra, and then a Burmese python. As each animal was brought out, the children would learn about the animal, where it lives, special traits, and diet. Children would then be asked questions about the information they had just learned and if they answered correctly, they would be allowed to touch it. "This method brings animals closer to people,” Miller said. The children took something with them as well; a rare experience and new knowledge about the vast world we live in.
