Voice of the People: Why do all Elected Officials Think They Know Better?

Why do all elected officials think they know better? Sixty-one percent of the Grand Terrace voters said no new taxes. They said cut spending… did our city council not understand? They said cut spending, cut spending; now they have found some new money and after they put in place the method of cutting spending they are back to spending as usual. The only place to spend is on the parks — not the police or the senior center — or on the majority of employees. Did you know that we do not own the senior center? Ninety percent of the people who use the senior center are renters at the senior low-income housing complex and they never lived in Grand Terrace before moving into the subsidized housing complex. Let the housing complex pay for their center, not us. Use the money to pay debts or pave streets or save it for a rainy day.
