Did You Hear the Lightning last Wednesday?

Along with April showers last week, came some springtime thunder. Longtime Grand Terrace resident Pete Peterson was surprised when a lightning bolt hit his palm tree last Wednesday around 5 p.m. Peterson’s wife, Darlene, was driving home from Colton Christian Church, where she serves as the secretary, when she saw the lightning bolt hit down from her car, but not for a moment did she think the lightning had struck her own front yard. Pete's neighbor, Jose, described the lightning like a firework, which struck just as he had arrived home, lighting up the whole sky. Following the lightning bolt, both Jose and Pete’s television stopped working, showing only a blue static screen for two days. No severe damage was caused as a result of the strike.
