The City of Grand Terrace has released its 2014-2020 Strategic Plan, the first significant component of its 2030 Vision. The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to help the City prioritize its efforts, allocating both fiscal and human resources to achieve a shared vision. That vision sees the Grand Terrace of 2030 as “an exceptionally safe and well managed City, known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities; a vibrant and diverse local economy; a place where residents enjoy an outstanding quality of life that fosters pride and an engaged community, encouraging families to come and remain for generations.” “The Strategic Plan is the result of a collaborative effort between the City Council and our staff,” said Mayor Walt Stanckiewitz. “We worked together to formulate a plan to make it possible for us to have the money and resources to realize that vision.” To get there, the City will initially focus on five goals: 1) ensure its fiscal viability 2) maintain public safety 3) promote economic development 4) develop and implement successful partnerships 5) engage in proactive communication “All of the City’s departments will be engaged in the effort to implement this Plan,” said Interim City Manager Ken Henderson. “By focusing our efforts on just five goals, we will be able to use our limited resources to achieve future success.” The City contracted with Flint Strategies to facilitate the Plan’s development. A special two-day study session was held on April 11 and 12 and was open to the public. The Plan is being released for public review and comment and will be presented for adoption at the May 13, 2014 City Council meeting. The Plan is available for review on the City’s website at www.cityofgrandterrace.org.
