On Dec. 13 and 14, the GT Bullets of the Grand Terrace Community Soccer Club Girls’ Under 10 Division traveled to Temecula to participate in the 2014 Cal South District 5 Commissioner’s Cup tournament. The GT team was made up of girls with a varying degree of soccer experience, from first time players to players with several years of soccer experience. The girls played three intensely-contested games within their assigned group during the weekend, earning first place in the group. Next up was the group championship against a tough Palm Desert team. The game became an epic defensive battle with a 0-0 score at the end of regulation time; a score that carried through the end of the first overtime. Palm Desert finally broke through with approximately one minute remaining in the second overtime, scoring the “golden goal” for the 1-0 win. The heart, determination, and sportsmanship shown by these GT Bullet girls throughout the 2014 fall season and tournament showcased Grand Terrace in the best possible light. After the tournament, District 5 personnel commented on the exemplary sportsmanship shown by the GT Bullet players and parents alike. We are all very proud of these girls and wish them continued success in their future soccer endeavors.
