Grand Terrace resident Kathryn Ford turned the age of 99 on Aug. 27. The Sunday prior to her birthday, the 24th, many of her family members gathered at her daughter Arlene Weaver’s house to celebrate with a barbecue. Ford has lived in Assisted Living at Emeritus in Grand Terrace for about two-and-half years now. “She loves it there,” Weaver shared. All of Ford’s children were there to celebrate with her, Weaver being the oldest, her son Darrell, Marni, and Heather. Her grandchildren, and some great grandchildren also came to celebrate with her. Don Bartee, Weaver’s other half, was “the master chef,” Weaver said with a laugh and smile. He barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone. Heather, Ford’s youngest daughter, made and decorated the birthday cake. “She’ll probably out live all four of us,” Arlene mentioned while laughing. She shared, “she’s had a long wonderful life.”
