Barnett Real Estate is sponsoring a Freedom Wall Essay Contest to give locals a chance to earn their loved one a free plaque, purchased by Barnett Real Estate, and given to three lucky winners. The contest is open to the public, and Grand Terrace residents are especially encouraged to participate. Essay submissions must be one page long, be legible, and explain why they feel that the person they are writing about should receive the sponsored Freedom Wall plaque, courtesy of Jody and Chris Barnett of Barnett Real Estate. Writers of all ages are encouraged to apply. "We liked the idea of the wall quite a bit. My dad and his grandfather are going to be on it and we look forward to increasing awareness of the wall," Jody Barnett said. "Barnett Realty has been very generous by purchasing these plaques," said Jim McNaboe of the Veterans Wall of Freedom committee. "It's great that Chris and Jody are opening their business in Grand Terrace in such a big way and we are pleased that they decided to allow the Veterans Wall of Freedom committee to be part of it. I am proud to be in a position to assist them with choosing the best essay, with the winners receiving a plaque on the Wall of Freedom for the veteran of their choice. It's hard to imagine anyone who does not know a veteran or is related to a veteran, so this could be a lasting gift for some lucky essayists." The deadline to turn in your one page essay to jodymbarnett1@gmail.com is Oct. 6. Submissions may also be mailed to Barnett Real Estate at 22365 Barton Road, Suite 204, Grand Terrace, CA 92313. Winners must be present at the grand opening celebration of Barnett Real Estate to be held on Oct. 12 at 22365 Barton Road in Grand Terrace (near the Bank of America). The three winners will be announced during the event.
