92 Arrested in Street Operation

More than 90 people in Grand Terrace, Loma Linda and unincorporated areas of San Bernardino were taken into custody for various infractions after a May 1 San Bernardino County Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) operation was conducted by several law enforcement agencies. A total of 92 arrests were made during the operation, including arrests for possession of dangerous weapons, possession of stolen vehicles, possession for sales of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, according to a release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Officers and deputies with gang expertise from law agencies including sheriff’s deputies from Rancho Cucamonga, Highland, Fontana, Chino Hills and Narcotics and Gangs were joined by officers from San Bernardino, Redlands, Montclair, Fontana, Rialto, Upland, Chino, Colton, Barstow, Parole, San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, Probation and California Highway Patrol for the operation, the release also states. The operations are done periodically “to ensure the ongoing safety of residents throughout the County of San Bernardino,” according to the release.
