This week's Grand Terrace High School Athlete of the Week is Andrew Ramirez II!

Andrew is also known as Turtle by his close friends and family. He is 15 years old and is currently a Sophomore at Grand Terrace High School. Andrew works very hard on and off the field and has maintained a 2.8 GPA.

Growing up in Colton, he played sports for eleven years, which he started with baseball at the age of four years old and then later went on to play football at six years old, in which he loves the most.

It is interesting to learn that he started playing football in Colton when he was younger. This early exposure to the sport likely contributed to his love for football and his current achievements as a high school athlete. It is always fascinating to hear about an athlete’s journey and how their early experiences shaped their passion and skills to be an outstanding student athlete.

Andrew plays football for GTHS, primarily as Cornerback and Safety. He had an impressive game with two interceptions and catching an onside kick.

It is clear that Andrew is dedicated to his education, football, friends & family, and he his ambitious goals for the future.

Andrew enjoys art as a hobby, alongside his passion for sports and academics. Art can be a wonderful creative outlet and a means of self-expression. It is impressive to see how well-rounded Andrew is in his interest and pursuits.

His motivation comes from his family, especially his little brother, and the desire to provide a better life for his family.

Andrew’s future plans are to attend college and play football professionally. His motivation and determination will get him there as he continuous to stay focused and work hard towards his goals.

He was recently awarded an Athlete of the Week certificate and a gift card from TME Photography at this month’s Senior Legacy Committee meeting held at GTHS. He expressed gratitude to his coaches and to me “Titan Mom Elvira” for the opportunity to be recognized as Athlete of the Week.

A quote that Andrew would like to share is, "You have one life so don’t be scared to live it."

Wishing Andrew all the best in his future and we hope to watch him play at a college level! The best is yet to come!
