GRAND TERRACE >> Beginning March 3, Clean Street will be the City of Grand Terrace’s new street sweeping contractor. Clean Street will sweep the entire length of Barton Road and Mount Vernon on a weekly basis. All other streets will be swept according to posted signage.
Additionally, the new contractor’s sweeper is outfitted with an onboard dash camera. The camera takes pictures of vehicles in violation of the City’s parking regulations, information captured by the camera is reviewed by code enforcement to confirm the code violation and the parking citation is processed electronically and mailed to the owner of the registered vehicle.
Street sweeping tickets will no longer be placed on vehicles. The new approach to parking enforcement will eliminate the need for the Code Enforcement Officer to follow the sweeper, this will increase efficiency and allow the City’s Code Enforcement Officer to focus on other important code-related issues.
In addition, the City is required to collect a $12.50 State-imposed fee for all parking tickets. The State fee will be added to the City’s existing fine of $25. The total price for a parking violation will be $37.50.
“The City has no choice and must remit the $12.50 to the State of California for every parking ticket issued within the City of Grand Terrace,” said G. Harold Duffey, City Manager of Grand Terrace.
