Senior Centers Holds Health and Resource Fair

Grand Terrace seniors recently gathered at the senior center for their Annual Health and Resource Fair. President of the Senior Center Jane Haines said, “This gives the seniors a chance to talk to the vendors about the changes in health coverage.” Haines mentioned that some of the attendees changed their health care after speaking and gathering information from the vendors. About 10 vendors participated in this year’s event including Family Services Association, United Healthcare, AmeriHealth Hospice Provider, and many more. Starting at about 8 a.m., vendors began to pile in the senior center setting up their tables and booths. The seniors were able to roam around and visit each booth to get informed on health and wellness. “Of course there were little bags filled with goodies and fun stuff that they put together, as well,” Haines added. There was more to look forward to than just a goodie-bag, as there was also entertainment waiting for the attendees in the dining room of the senior center. After everyone gathered from the card room where the vendors were set up to the dining area, the dance group “Aloha Tutus” of Redlands put a performance on for the attendees. “They were so great… everyone loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed them,” Haines shared. At every year’s Health and Resource Fair, the Grand Terrace Senior Center holds their elections. Everyone gets the opportunity to vote and nominate officials for the new year. “All the officials stayed the same this year. Everyone voted to keep the same people as the officials,” Haines said. “There were a lot of different things to do, but it was a successful day,” she added.
