On Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. Deputy Guy Nicassio observed a black Volkswagen Golf driving recklessly northbound on La Cadena Drive in the city of Grand Terrace. Nicassio activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted to catch the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle drove into residential neighborhoods in south side of Colton with willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. The suspect vehicle was lost somewhere in the neighborhood. Citizens flagged down Nicassio and told him the vehicle was southbound on La Cadena Drive heading back toward Grand Terrace. Nicassio found the vehicle and began a two mile pursuit with the suspect after the vehicle failed to yield. The pursuit terminated when the suspect attempted a U-turn on a dead end road. Nicassio stopped the suspect's vehicle as it was coming out of the U-turn preventing it from proceeding forward. The driver, Daniel Ordonez, who was 28-years-old from San Bernardino, was taken into custody after a short struggle. Daniel Ordonez was booked at West Valley Detention Center and charged with Recklessly Evading a Peace Officer, a weapons violation and driving on a suspended license.
