GRAND TERRACE>> On April 22nd and April 23rd, the city of Grand Terrace and Burrtec will team up to donate free mulch to local residents. The event is in celebration of the up and coming Earth Day, which takes place every year on April 22, and serves as a reminder to take care of the Earth. The giveaway will take place at the corner of Mt. Vernon Ave. and Canal Street. Those wishing to receive free mulch must bring their own containers or heavy duty bags. The giveaway is first come, first serve, so residents must be prepared to arrive early. As stated by Earthday.org, Earth day is celebrated in honor of the modern environmental movement, which began in 1970. The creation of Earth Day is credited with being the starting point for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the passage of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act. For more information on Grand Terrace's plans to celebrate Earth Day, visit http://www.grandterrace-ca.gov/. For more information on Earth Day, visit the Earth Day website at www.earthday.org.
