In Loving Memory of Gilbert L. MoliniMarch 28, 1936 - Dec. 16, 2014

Known as Gilberto L. Molini who was born March 28, 1936 of French dissent on the Isle of Corsica later moved to the island of Puerto Rico with his parents where he spent most of his younger years with his 4 other brothers. He came from a family of 15 step brothers and sisters. After finishing his early education and since Puerto Rico was under U.S. soil, Gilbert decided to join the United States Air Force. His military occupation assignment was as a Loadmaster for aircraft, and while performing this duty he took part in many mercy missions aboard the airplanes to different countries. He received a Distinguish Flying Cross for his outstanding work while in the service. Gilbert met his first wife Gurdy in Germany and later moved to Grand Terrace, California with her and their two lovely children Tom and Terry. Tom provided a granddaughter Amber and Terry added grandsons Jordan and Ryan to the family. During Gilbert’s married years with Gurdy, he was an active member of the Grand Terrace Lions Club and both Gilbert and Gurdy worked together on many projects in support of the Club. One of the life members of the Club, Lion Roy Nix has expressed his appreciation for Gilbert’s fine works by stating, “Having witnessed Gil’s volunteer service to all of Grand Terrace and to Lions Club International projects for over 35 years, it is a difficult task to summarize in a few paragraphs. It is heartwarming to recall the way Gil and Gurdy hosted the hospitality room for the Grand Terrace Lions at our annual Lions District convention, sacrificing personal comforts to serve all comers until late night and then awaken early to prepare coffee and breakfast for all early risers. Gil was an annual recipient of recognition for his timely reports as Lions Club Secretary, never known to be tardy with a single report in approximately 20 years. Gil's service to the community at large as well as the GT Lions Community Center when repairs/replacements were needed will long be remembered by most everyone in Grand Terrace. What a wonderful treasure and community servant we have lost.” Gurdy passed away on Feb. 21, 2009. Gilbert is survived by his son Tom Molini, daughter Terry Molini, his three grandchildren: Amber, Jordan and Ryan; and his second wife Sherry who he joined in matrimony in a double wedding ceremony with Sherry’s daughter Jennifer and her husband Rick Fobes, plus his children and grandchildren. Gilbert passed away on Dec. 16, 2014 at his home at the age of 78. His service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Avenue, Riverside CA 92518, Staging 2, on January 23rd at exactly 10:15 a.m. The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will be present.
