San Bernardino County residents will have another opportunity to make a lifesaving difference this month as the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District partners with LifeStream Blood Bank for a community blood drive.
The blood drive will take place Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at San Bernardino County Fire Protection District headquarters, 598 S. Tippecanoe Ave. in San Bernardino. Donations will be collected in the first-floor Assembly Room.
The event comes during a critical time for blood donations. LifeStream says approximately 500 blood donations are needed each day to meet the needs of patients in the communities it serves. The organization conducts about 1,700 mobile blood drives each year in addition to operating permanent donor centers throughout the region.
Blood collected through the Aug. 25 drive will help support hospitals throughout San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo, Mono and Kern counties. Donations also support San Bernardino County Fire's Pre-Hospital Blood Transfusion Program, based in Hesperia, which allows paramedics to provide blood products to critically injured or ill patients before they arrive at a hospital. County officials say a single blood donation can potentially help save as many as three lives.
“We’re proud to open our doors and give back to the community we serve every day,” EMS Supervisor Miranda Mulhall said in the county announcement. “Donating blood is one of the simplest ways residents can make a real difference for their neighbors.”
Summer can be a particularly important period for maintaining the local blood supply. LifeStream has described summer as one of the most critical times for donations and has offered extended hours at several regional donor centers during the season to make donating more convenient.
As an added thank-you, donors participating in the Aug. 25 County Fire blood drive will receive a limited-edition San Bernardino County Fire Protection District T-shirt and a $25 Target gift card while supplies last.
Residents unable to participate in the event can still donate through LifeStream's regional donor centers, including its San Bernardino location at 420 E. Hospitality Lane, Suite A7. Appointments can also be located and scheduled through LifeStream's website or mobile app.
The partnership provides residents with a simple way to support both local hospitals and emergency responders while helping ensure blood is available when a neighbor needs it most.
