The Grand Terrace Senior Center went Hawaiian on Saturday, April 11. This year’s get-together, the “Go Hawaiian” themed party, included pool, dancing, multiple games, and, of course, some yummy food. Community members started piling in to the senior center starting at 6 p.m. Saturday night. Vice President of the center Solomon Dobynes shared, “We had a lot of things to do. It was a good time.” Dobynes joined the center in September 2013 and was soon nominated for the position of vice president; he’s been in this position for over a year. “There were about 12 to 13 people that came to participate,” said Dobynes. “Some of the Leos from the High School’s Lions Club came to help too.” After they helped decorate and serve refreshments to many attendees, they also were more than welcome to eat some pizza and enjoy the refreshments. According to Dobynes, they also participated in the Hawaiian-themed fun and activities. “The Wii games were definitely the most popular. The Leos were playing that too,” he added. Senior Center member Denis Kidd supplied the beats and tunes for line dancing. “The Wii games, the line dancing…a lot of people were participating in those,” Dobynes said. “It was just to have a good time and we did.”
