California Baptist University finds itself in another preseason ranking, taking the 12th-ranked spot in NCAA Division II in the D2Wrestle.com poll. The Lancers find themselves in familiar territory after placing 12th at the NCAA tournament in the 2013-2014 season. Being ranked 12th in the nation also means that CBU is the top-ranked team from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Central Oklahoma falls shortly behind the Lancers at 14th, with Colorado State Pueblo finishing the preseason rankings at No. 20. CBU also holds one ranked wrestler in Jacob Waste. The 184-pounder earned All-American status last season and now finds himself third in the preseason rankings. Despite the ranking, he shows all the signs and has all the hopes of contending for the national title. The junior placed fifth at the national tournament last year after an acclaimed 30-4 season. There is hype surrounding the CBU wrestling team this year, with a large retention of starters and an impressive incoming class that will improve the depth of the squad. After placing 30th in last year's Division II Championships, CBU will look to show the quality it possesses and compete for a national title.
