The Grand Terrace Jr. Titans All Star Football team washed cars for a cause last Saturday, Aug. 17. The 20-member team was joined by their coaches, athletic directors, team moms and parents to wash hundreds of cars from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Der Wienerschnitzel located on S. Mt. Vernon Avenue in Colton last weekend to raise funds for various league costs and to purchase end-of-the-season gifts for the team and staff, shared league athletic director Elvira Valenzuela. “We had great team participation. All [team] players were able to show up and support [each other],” said Valenzuela, who guessed that the team washed something like 160 cars that day. Parents and coaches brought their own buckets, soap, rags and towels for the event and Der Wienerschnitzel, who donated the use of their parking lot for the event, also donated 15 percent of every food purchase toward the league, said Valenzuela. “We saw a lot of people from Colton and Grand Terrace that we knew. To have that kind of support and to have people who show they care is great. We’re always looking for that support,” Valenzuela said. “We would like to send out a huge ‘Thank you!’ to everyone who showed up!” The league will also host several other fundraisers in the future to help cover other league costs, she noted.
