GRAND TERRACE>> At the Grand Terrace city council meeting on Aug. 23, Sandra Molina, director of Planning & Development Services, presented an update on the SeeClickFix Program that was initiated by the city staff in January of 2016 to be used primarily as a public works tool and to incorporate code enforcement reviews, as well. The overall purpose of SCF is to allow residents and community members to send in public works or code enforcement issues via their mobile devices or online, which will allow city staff to initiate work orders that will create greater efficiencies and streamline public work items. Residents can monitor the progress by which the city addresses the issues and they will receive a email back when the project has been completed. The overall benefit from the program comes from the reports issued that saves valuable staff time for the time spent writing and communicating work orders to the maintenance staff. Since the program was implemented in mid-January, there have been more than 300 internal and external issues that have opened. The average completion time for each project is 12 days. “Since the beginning of the program, the Public Works Department has received 255 service requests and the Code Enforcement Department has seen 53 code enforcement requests," Molina said. "The major issues that are reported upon are overgrown weeds, park issues, potholes, sprinklers running or broken, illegal dumping and unlicensed businesses.” The SCF program is working and with more people going online to Grand Terrace City Hall with their phone devices or laptops, when they come across a public works issue in the City, the program will grow exponentially.
