Jim Hurlburt passed away peacefully in his home in Grand Terrace at the age of 89 with his daughter Terry Manz by his side. Jim was born in Downey, California and moved to Grand Terrace in 1962 while stationed at Norton Air Force Base. He touched many people with his kindness and generosity throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired in 1969 after 23 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant. He went on to work for Burroughs Corporation and Unysis Corporation as a Manager of Field Engineering. He proudly served as a volunteer for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in the Citizens Patrol and Commander of the Citizen's Patrol, and Motor Pool for 20 years. Jim loved his country and his community and was proud to have served both, without asking anything in return. His wife Kaz Hurlburt preceeded him in passing in 1996. He is survived by his daughter Terry Manz, son-in-law Robert Manz, nephews John and Joe Sprague, and many people whose heart he touched. Services will be held on Sept. 29, at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA 92518 at 10:30 a.m. The family will be hosting a "Celebration of Life" reception immediately following the service at Canyon Crest Country Club 975 Country Club Dr. Riverside, CA 92506. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
