In Loving Memory of... Darolin "Dee" Winans, Feb. 25, 1938 - July 26, 2015

On July 26, 2015, Darolin "Dee" Winans passed peacefully at age 77 from cancer at her home in Hemet, CA. She was surrounded by her husband, Dwight Winans; children Deverie Avila, Derek Peterson, Paul Robertson; granddaughter Courtney Honeycutt with great-grandsons Chanse and Christopher Honeycutt; daughter-in-law Susan Peterson with grandchildren Nicholas and Heidi Peterson; and her beloved dog, Buddy. Dee is also survived by her step-daughters Cathy Shaddle-Winans and husband Bill, Nancy Quinto-Winans and husband Dan, Cindy Johnson-Winans and husband Steve as well as siblings Kay Walraven, Clyde Valdies and Neita Rodgers plus 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her parents and stepson Doug Winans. Dee was born in Los Angeles, California and attended schools in the San Gabriel Valley.S he is a graduate of Mark Keppel High School and participated in band and Job's Daughters. She was a hard worker no matter where she was: at work, in the kitchen or spending time with family and friends. Dee had an infectious laugh, a twinkle in her eyes and a big heart. She worked tirelessly to nurture those around her. Her secretarial career took her to work for such places as Xerox, Yavapai County Courthouse and the Union Pacific Railroad making sure the rail cars were in order and accounted for. She and Dwight were married in August 1985 and served together in the Grand Terrace Lions Club where she earned multiple awards for work on the annual scrapbook and in 2002 was awarded the Melvin Jones award for exemplary service to Lions and the community. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Avenue in Hemet. Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard in Riverside. A celebration of her life will be held at the Grand Terrace Lions Club Community Center, 22130 Barton Road in Grand Terrace, immediately following services on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
