Actor Tony Plana of Ugly Betty to Attend Indian Education Family Gathering

Tony Plana, who played Ignacio Suarez in the Ugly Betty television series, as well as roles in Desperate Housewives, Madam Secretary, and 24, will be a featured guest at the Sept. 22, 6 p.m., New School Year Gathering Family Night. The San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) Title VII American Indian Education program presents the New School Year Gathering Family Night as a way to bring together the community to share the rich cultural traditions of Native Americans. The gathering will also feature James Ramos, San Bernardino County Supervisor for the third district; World Champion Native American hoop dancer Terry Goedel, musicians Tracy Lee Nelson and Carlos Reynosa, and Jacque Tahuka Nunez. Nunez is known as a storyteller and for her Journeys to the Past presentations, which take students on a journey through the lifestyle of Native California Indians before the arrival of the Spanish. Free Native American fry bread will be available to the first 100 guests. The free event begins at 6 p.m. at Arroyo Valley High School, 1881 West Baseline Street in San Bernardino. Parking will be available in the north parking lot.
