EZ Mobility Always Puts Patients First

For Ruth Maldonado, owner of EZ Mobility Durable Medical Equipment and Supplies in Riverside, her work is more than just a business—it’s a lifelong calling.

Maldonado started her career at just 16 years old, joining a medical billing program in high school that led to her first job with a healthcare company. Over the years, she worked her way up from filing medical records to managing billing for seven branches. But while she excelled in the clerical side of the industry, Maldonado wanted something more personal: the chance to work directly with patients.

“I loved the billing, but when I started working face-to-face with patients, I loved it even more,” she said. “Helping someone feel comfortable, giving them options, and making sure they can live independently—that’s what drives me.”

At EZ Mobility, Maldonado wears many hats. She handles billing, fittings, repairs, and customer service, while also personally visiting patients in their homes when they can’t come to the store. That level of service, she says, is rare in her field.

The store provides a wide range of durable medical equipment—from canes, walkers, and power wheelchairs to hospital beds and bathroom safety items—all designed to help patients maintain their independence. Maldonado also specializes in orthotics and prosthetics, fitting patients with knee and ankle braces, AFOs, and post-surgical prostheses. In addition, she offers custom compression stockings, a service not often provided elsewhere.

“Compression is so important for circulation, but many patients struggle to put the stockings on,” she explained. “We show them all the options—wraps, different styles—and make sure they’re truly comfortable.”

What sets EZ Mobility apart, Maldonado emphasizes, is the approach. “I don’t believe in pushing equipment,” she said. “I assess what the patient really needs and give them options. My goal is service, not sales.”

That patient-centered mindset extends to her availability. EZ Mobility operates Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—but Maldonado is quick to add that her hours are flexible. “If you need me later, I’ll stay later. If you call on a Sunday, I’ll come. Emergencies don’t wait, and neither should patients.”

Located at 9295 Magnolia Avenue, Unit 106, Riverside, EZ Mobility has become a trusted resource for patients and caregivers alike. Whether in the store or through in-home service, Maldonado’s mission remains clear: to restore quality of life by giving patients back their independence.

“Being independent is everything,” she said. “That’s what we want to give back—the power of independence, and the comfort of knowing someone cares.”
