Grand Terrace High School is proud to recognize Chase Donovan as this week’s Athlete of the Week! Chase is a 16 year old Sophomore who continues to impress both on and off the field. With an outstanding 4.6 GPA, he exemplifies what it means to be a student athlete, balancing a rigorous academic schedule while excelling in sports.

Chase has been involved in team sports since the age of 4. He began playing Soccer and Baseball at 12 years old and has made it to multiple All-Star teams in both sports. His passion for Tennis began in 7th grade when he started taking lessons, and he officially joined the GTHS Tennis team as a Freshman. He played as the #3 singles player in his first year and is now the #1 singles player as a Sophomore. A testament to his growth, talent, and dedication.

In addition to tennis, Chase also plays midfield in Soccer, and he has lettered in both Soccer and Tennis at GTHS. His versatility, sportsmanship, and strong work ethic have not gone unnoticed, earning him this recognition as Athlete of the Week for the second time. Mr. Ortiz, who selected Chase for the honor, praised his commitment and positive attitude, qualities that shine both during practices and competitions.

Beyond sports, Chase is also a recipient of the ACES Award for both his Freshman and Sophomore years, which proves another reflection of his academic excellence. Outside of school, he enjoys snowboarding and pickleball, always staying active and adventurous.

When asked about his biggest influence, Chase shared, "Pro athletes. I love seeing individuals overcome challenges and be their best at their sports."

His future plans include serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by attending Brigham Young University.

Chase’s favorite quote is from Kobe Bryant, “The moment you give up is the moment you let someone else win.”

We’re proud to celebrate this Titan’s outstanding achievements and can’t wait to see all that the future holds for Chase. With his dedication and drive, there’s no doubt the best is yet to come.
