This week's GTHS Athlete of the Week goes to Jaylene N. Romero!

Jaylene is a senior involved in cheer and marching band. She has been in cheer for six years and marching band for four years. Some of her hobbies include reading, baking, doing nails, and listening to music.

Of all her accomplishments, some that Jaylene is proud of are getting a solid extension lib and tic up with her cheer group, getting a high-toe touch basket as well, and accomplishing becoming a flute section leader for the marching band. "An educational accomplishment I have is ending my Junior year with a 4.3 GPA because I felt as though that’s been the toughest year yet," said Jaylene proudly.

When asked what motivates her, Jaylene answered, "My mom is someone who inspires and motivates me to be the best I can be. Her being hardworking and doing everything she can for my brother and me, as a single mother, motivates me to do it for her and that everything in life is possible."

"In the future, I plan to go to school for business and soon after, own my own business," said Jaylene about her future plans.

A quote that Jaylene would like to share is, "Endless possibilities are achievable with determination and the right mindset."

The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
