This year the Grand Terrace Woman’s Club will be celebrating 116 years of service to our community. The Woman’s Club was founded in 1908 where they adopted the motto “not for ourselves, but for all” early on. The women of the GTWC are active in the community as volunteers in many diverse projects and charities throughout the year.

“The goal is to have fun, to meet new friends, and get acquainted,”

The Club has in the past collected needed items for the Salvation Army Transitional Care Center in San Bernardino. Also the club held one of their biggest projects, the “Toasty Toes” collection, where they collected 306 pairs of socks that were donated to local domestic violence shelters and local homeless outreach groups.

One of the biggest fundraisers that the Woman’s Club holds is their annual Child Help Christmas raffle. In years past the club partnered with the Grand Terrace Lions Club and local restaurants Woody’s Classic Grill, Odalberto’s, The Donut House, and Loud Burgers, providing gift cards as prizes. Many citizens of the community donated prizes, including Mr. Jose Canales who donated uncirculated dollars. Again Mr. Canales donated more uncirculated dollars at the Blue Mt Festival this year.

Mary Wilson third VP who is in charge of Fundraising and has brought innovative ideas for fundraising, and has had much success with bunco, bingo, and a trip to the 66ers baseball field. She has made sure the Woman's Club is seen on social media. She has created the website for the woman's club www.gtwomansclub.com  Check it out!!! They are also on Facebook and Instagram

You might say Mary Wilson has put the Grand Terrace Woman's Club on the map.

"New President Debbie Earle has served as president before and brings a lot of experience; of which we will need, with new officers and committee chairs to lead another successful year." said Mary Wilson.

The club holds monthly meetings every third Wednesday of the month at the Grand Terrace City Hall Community Room. However, they will be dark June, July, and August.  During June, July and August they will be hosting Bingo 2 times per month.  The following dates are already solidified and all you need to do is call 840-228-8880 to make reservations for July 7th, July 21st, August 11th and August 25th!! Bingo is being held at the Grand Terrace Senior Center.

Each year the GTWC participates in the Light Up Grand Terrace Event by providing sugar cookies that children can decorate with frosting and sprinkles. It is fun for both the children and for the club members.

Each year, the Woman’s Club purchases subscriptions to each of the local elementary schools for Kind News, published by Red Rover, a newsletter that helps children understand and respect animals.

These are just a few of the projects and charities that the Grand Terrace Woman’s Club supports. For more information regarding the club, you can email them at gtwomansclub@gmail.com

This year, with your help the club hopes to grow and provide even more assistance to those in need.
