On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Deputy J. Causey was assigned to the city of Grand Terrace for pro-active patrol. Causey initiated a traffic stop on an off-road motorcycle for a vehicle registration and helmet violation. The rider failed to yield to the emergency lights and audible siren. The suspect lead deputies on an approximate four-mile pursuit northbound on the I- 215 freeway and through the city of Grand Terrace. The rider ran several stop lights and recklessly rode on the sidewalk near Barton Road and Town Square.

Sheriff’s Aviation responded to assist deputies in pursuing the motorcycle. After about 20 minutes, Sheriff’s Aviation observed the suspect take a blind corner and directed deputies to his location.  Central Station's Multi Enforcement Team apprehended him without further incident.  The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile from the city of Colton. He was arrested for felony evading and transported to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Central Station where he was cite released to his parent.
