GRAND TERRACE>> The Christmas season has begun and soon, Christmas trees, decorations and twinkling lights will fill the every aspect of everyday life. In Grand Terrace, the community is invited to gather in celebration of the lighting of a Christmas tree located at the corner of Barton Road and Palm Avenue for the "Light Up Grand Terrace" event on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 6-8 p.m. The event will be held in the parking lot of Azure Hills Church, located at 22633 Barton Rd, Grand Terrace, CA 92313. Grand Terrace residents are invited to this free event in order to kick off the holiday spirit while also enjoying delicious food, fun activities and crafts. There is also a chance for those in attendance to participate in raffle giveaways. Pastor Alger Keough of Azure Hills Church said there was a good attendance last year and many groups and vendors helped bring the community together. "It's kind of like a little party for awhile and ends with the lighting of the tree," Keough said. "It's more than just the tree lighting; it's entertaining and inclusive with the community." Keough said he is happy to have the event in the parking lot of the church and enjoys supporting the community. Those who attend the celebration will also see a special appearance from Santa at the ceremony, which will add to the holiday spirit brought by the twinkling lights at the tree lighting ceremony. The City of Grand Terrace will also be accepting toy donations for the Toys for Tots foundation. Those who bring a toy to donate will automatically be entered to win a free holiday tree.
