COLTON>> On FLAG DAY, Wednesday, June 14, 2017, Battalion Chief Con Cendejas welcomed the Girl Scout Troop 11, Colton; Girl Scout 242, Grand Terrace; Boy Scout Troop #40, Grand Terrace and Cub Scout Pack #242, Grand Terrace; faithful, diligent scout leaders; proud parents and friends to the American Flag Retirement Ceremony.

Chief Cendejas gave the published requirements to properly retire an American flag after it has faithfully served its purpose.

All the flags were on display, folded in a triangle with stars showing in a memorial fashion. The scouts formed a line at the display table to pick up a flag with hands crossed, they held it next to their hearts walking to the blazing fire ring to be guided by a Colton Fire Fighter to safely throw their flag into the flames for its honorary retirement.
