GRAND TERRACE >> My wife and I have long supported the sale of fireworks in Grand Terrace. After (Fourth of July) events, we no longer support the selling or use of fireworks in this city. M-80s were going off in our neighborhood starting at about 3 p.m. Starting about 9 p.m., all hell broke loose. I have not experienced such noise since Army basic training when live ammo was being fired over my head during confidence course training. For the next two hours our neighborhood sounded like a war zone. Every illegal firework you can think of was being shot off. It continued until 1 a.m. One of our dogs was frantic with fear and nothing we could do would calm her and she had been given a sedative prescribed by our vet. (In the morning of July 5,) she would not go outside. (We) don't blame the sheriff for not enforcing safe and sane fireworks. We have only one Deputy and he/she was probably overwhelmed. It is time to revisit banning fireworks in Grand Terrace. Dave and Lynda Snyder The letters and opinions are not necessarily the views or opinions of City News Group, Inc.
